Sell These 4 RBs in Dynasty Fantasy Football

This time of year in dynasty is when championship rosters are created, and dynasties are built through smart moves, adding value wherever you can find it.

One of the most volatile positions in a dynasty is the running back position, where all it takes is a down year or breakout co-star to drastically drop their value.

When I talk about “sells” at a position, it doesn't mean that I am out on a player, but rather that I see the value that this player currently has and that it can be capitalized upon to better your team for the future.

With that being said, get ready to dive into my analysis on five running back sells for 2025 dynasty fantasy football.

James Cook (BUF)

Sleeper ADP: RB16

The first player on the list today is Buffalo Bills running back James Cook. In 2024, Cook had 1,009 rushing yards and 16 TDs paired with 35 receptions for 258 yards and an additional 2 TDs. These numbers propelled Cook to an RB8 overall finish for the second time in his career.

Cook will be 26 years old going into the 2025 season and is in the last year of his rookie contract with the Bills. He has had talks of an extension with both sides not able to agree on a new deal yet.

The Bills' system is designed to feed Cook reception opportunities, along with many goal-line touches, making the system perfect for Cook’s strengths. However, if both sides are unable to finalize an extension and Cook hits free agency, he likely finds a new home in 2026, which could see him in an unfamiliar role less suited to his playstyle, which in turn could drop his value.

Cook’s massive year in 2024 also greatly benefited from his touchdown production, where Cook rushed in 16 TDs, a new franchise record, which scored him an additional 96 fantasy points. This level of production will be extremely difficult to reproduce, and the regression of touchdowns in 2025 could see Cook not able to reproduce these same numbers in years to come.

Cook’s possible touchdown regression and inability to strike a new deal with the Bills are several reasons why I am looking to sell this running back in 2025.

Breece Hall (NYJ)

Sleeper ADP: RB8

Next up on the list is New York Jets running back Breece Hall. In 2024, Hall rushed for 876 yards and 5 TDs, paired with 57 receptions for 483 yards. These numbers were good for a RB18 overall finish, placing him just outside of RB1 territory.

Hall will be 24 years old for this upcoming season, and is also going into the last year of his rookie contract without a future extension confirmed yet.

Hall started off hot in the NFL, finishing as the RB2 overall in 2023 following his season-ending injury in his rookie year. However, this last year, with the best offense Hall has played under, he struggled to find that elite production he was just one year removed from.

This struggle comes partially from having more options around him including Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams for most of last year, with the Jets also adding former LSU tight end Mason Taylor to their offense for 2025.

To add even more uncertainty to the Jets running back room for next season, newly hired head coach Aaron Glenn has publicly stated he wants to run a three running back rotation in the upcoming season, to capitalize on all of their strengths. This post on X from @CoachspeakIndex shows Glenn’s willingness to utilize multiple backfield players.

Even more, the Jets signed quarterback Justin Fields to a two-year deal in free agency this year. Fields is known for his rushing ability and could potentially take valuable rushing snaps away from Hall, while also not being able to match the passing volume Hall received in his RB2 overall season in 2023.

Hall’s current ADP is overvalued due to all the factors affecting his ability to produce at an elite level. Capitalizing on this inflated value provides an opportunity to gain significant assets and move to a more secure running back for your dynasty team.

Isiah Pacheco (KC)

Sleeper ADP: RB25

As I mentioned earlier, most of these sells are players whose value is too high, allowing you can gain value even though the player is still good. However, Isaiah Pacheco is a player I am looking to sell heavily and am out on completely.

In 2024, Pacheco had his year cut short due to a broken fibula, limiting him to just seven games. In those games, Pacheco put up 310 rushing yards and 1 TD with 12 receptions for 79 yards.

When Pacheco returned in Week 13, he seemed like a shell of his former self with fellow running back Kareem Hunt taking all the spotlight and outperforming him week after week. Pacheco is 26 years old going into the last year of his rookie contract, making him a 27-year-old free agent after this season.

The Chiefs' pass-heavy system requires running backs to be elite receivers to be effective, and Pacheco thrives more as a pure rusher and not as a receiver. Pacheco had a large amount of his receiving work taken by Hunt last season, and with the team bringing Hunt back, as well as bringing in one of the better pass-catching backs in the 2025 NFL Draft in Brashard Smith, Pacheco is going to see even less passing work, which in turn, tanks his value.

With Pacheco’s contract ending and free agency looming, now is the time to offload your shares, as in 2026 he’ll likely find his way into a backup role or buried further on a different depth chart.

Tony Pollard (TEN)

Sleeper ADP: RB32

The last player on this list is Tennessee Titans running back Tony Pollard. Pollard signed with the Titans in 2024 following two very productive years with the Cowboys, but through competition and inefficient offensive play, Pollard limped to a RB21 finish, totaling 1,079 rushing yards with 5 TDs and 41 receptions for 238 yards.

The Titans look to be a more efficient passing team this year, but will still struggle to consistently win games, meaning that they will have to play from behind, passing the ball more often and minimizing the snaps that Pollard has available.

Nearing the end of last season, fellow teammate Tyjae Spears saw a breakout stretch averaging 16.6 points per game over the last three games of the season. Spears excels in the passing game, taking even more opportunities away from Pollard.

Pollard is an aging asset in a floundering offense, with a younger player chasing him for his snaps and rush attempts, so getting what you can for Pollard is a safer move, allowing you to capitalize on whatever value he has left rather than being left with nothing shortly in the future.

Final Thoughts

Right now is the time to make moves and add value to your dynasty roster, and one of the simplest ways is to look for value in the running back position. The players I listed above stick out as players that are valued much higher than their potential finishes, making them an easy value to add to your team.

Capitalize on this value while you still can and go win a dynasty championship in 2025!
