Buy & Sell These Players in Fantasy Football Right Now (Week 8)

We’ve hit the point in the fantasy football season where everyone is either panicking or confident that their team is “championship bound”.

Half the league swears they're only “one trade away”, while others are playing with fire and getting lucky with sits and starts each week.

This is where smart fantasy managers feast, right amidst the panic, where a slip from a top receiver causes instant panic or where a redzone touchdown can send a player flying up rankings.

This week, we're targeting a handful of proven talents that had a down week previously, while we’re moving off of some more volatile players that had a spectacular week 7.

Grab your trade calculators, get your fantasy apps open, and get ready to send out those offers for these buy low and sell high candidates.

Buy Low

Drake London

Atlanta Falcons - WR

Drake London’s production has been much different from what fantasy managers expected heading into the 2025 season.

After his nuclear performances to cap off 2024, London was drafted as an alpha WR1 and has shown games as that, but has had multiple disappointing games to pair with them.

In week 7, London only produced 8.2 PPR points with 4 receptions for 42 yards, his second-lowest score this season.

While having two games under ten points already, less than halfway through the season, may look concerning, London has reiterated why he was taken as a top pick, scoring 25 and 31.8 PPR points in weeks 6 and 7, respectively.

Even in his poor week 7 performance, London was targeted 10 times, showing the dedication the Falcons have to involving him in the offense.

London’s performance is nothing to worry about, and if you can find a manager who’s panicking, capitalize on your moment to secure a top-tier wide receiver for the remainder of the 2025 season.

Kyren Williams

Los Angeles Rams - RB

Kyren Williams has had a quiet season so far, doing just enough to keep his name relevant but without the big games to throw him into the media’s attention.

Due to this quiet season, this middling performance of just 8.5 PPR points only minimizes Williams’ value.

Williams cements himself as a true buy as the Rams have shown the commitment they have to getting him involved, as he ranks 8th in total touches among running backs in the NFL.

Not only is Williams having a good performance in 2025 (currently RB9 overall), but he has two previous years of RB1 production (RB7 in 2023 and RB7 in 2024) to back up his pedigree and skill set.

Williams is the perfect buy, as managers aren't panic-selling him. Still, they're also not happy with his average production, making him an elite target for managers looking to make a push for the playoffs.

Saquon Barkley

Philadelphia Eagles - RB

Saquon Barkley has been one of the biggest disappointments in recent weeks, as the former 1.01 fantasy pick has averaged just 6.95 points per game over his last two starts.

While the panic button is within reach for this one, let's not count out the former offensive player of the year, but rather give him the benefit of the doubt when it comes to these poor performances.

Even in these two middling games, Barkley had 30 combined carries, which is good for 13th in the NFL during that time, meaning the opportunities are there, but the big plays we’re all so used to just haven't been there.

The Eagles also have the 6th easiest schedule for running backs the remainder of the season, making Barkley a must-start as we approach the fantasy football playoffs.

The fantasy manager who has Barkley is likely looking for an easy out, and you should present yourself as a buyer, snagging a premier running back for a fraction of his original cost.

Sell High

DeVonta Smith

Philadelphia Eagles - WR

Starting our sell high candidates is another Eagle, DeVonta Smith.

Smith had a monster week 7, totaling 33.3 PPR points on 9 receptions, 183 receiving yards, and 1 touchdown.

Smith is currently the WR11 overall, but is being boosted by elite performances in weeks 3,5, and 7, where he’s averaging 24.2 points.

Philadelphia isn’t a pass-heavy team, as they rely heavily on Barkley to produce with the running game, making the reliability of Smith low as the season goes on.

Smith is also heavily touchdown-dependent, as the touchdowns he’s scored have propelled his fantasy finishes and boosted his overall numbers.

With teammate Dallas Goedert having a spectacular season and fellow receiver A.J. Brown also being targeted, Smith is in heavy competition for targets and opportunities in the Philadelphia offense.

Sell the massive performance paired with the WR1 label to a team in need of a top-tier wide receiver, and grab a player that will bring more consistent weekly value to your fantasy roster.

Bo Nix

Denver Broncos - QB

Bo Nix exploded in a crazy week 7 comeback against the Giants, scoring 39.96 fantasy points with two touchdowns through the air and another two on the ground.

Nix is known for his dual-threat ability, which was on full display as he posted 48 rushing yards on 5 attempts, averaging out to 9.6 yards per carry.

This near 40-point performance is the best of Nix’s career, but was heavily propelled by his touchdowns, which made up 50% of his total points on Sunday.

The inconsistency of Nix is another selling factor, as he’s only had three games over 20 points this season, making him a mid-tier option most weeks.

Nix has also seen poor efficiency throughout the season, as he ranks 28th out of all qualified quarterbacks in bad throw percentage, with a 19.9% bad throw rate.

Capitalize on this massive game and move Nix for a higher-tier quarterback or elite FLEX option before week 8.

Pat Freiermuth

Pittsburgh Steelers - TE

Pat Freiermuth flew onto the scene this weekend, posting a whopping 28.1 PPR points against the Bengals, giving many managers a TE1 look.

Unfortunately, Freiermuth’s usage is extremely inconsistent, as he had only seen 11 targets before week 7, and even then, he saw just 6 targets, which he converted into 111 yards.

Additionally, Freiermuth’s elite performance was heavily influenced by the two touchdowns he had, which accounted for 42% of his points.

Freiermuth also has extended competition at the tight end position, with teammates Darnell Washington and Jonnu Smith taking valuable reps and targets away from him.

Furthermore, Pittsburgh’s offense shifts to run-heavy schemes often, leaving the tight ends to block, making Freiermuth’s opportunities even smaller.

Move off of Freiermuth for a low FLEX option or a more consistent tight end that can help propel you to contend for your 2025 fantasy football championship.

Final Thoughts

Eight weeks in and this season already feels like a dream.

Pat Freiermuth turned into George Kittle for a day, Bo Nix was playing on rookie mode, and DeVonta Smith gave us a glimpse of what he could be.

On the flip side, studs like Drake London, Kyren Williams, and Saquon Barkley are begging to be saved from panicked managers who only see the box scores.

Value swings each week, and these players offer the most of it before week 8, making them the perfect buy-low and sell-high candidates.

Sell the hype and buy the talent, and don’t forget to check back next week for more start and sit candidates!
