Here we are heading into Week 6, and most fantasy managers are in two groups:
1. The people convincing themselves that their 2-3 is just unlucky (I’m in this boat)
2. The 4-1 teams that think they're unbeatable (I wish)
Fantasy football is coming up on the yearly midseason crisis, where some players look like bona fide elite players, while others look like they’ve never played football in their lives.
But with all this uncertainty, you know what that means: buy-low and sell-high targets are just around the corner.
Managers are starting to see players' values take root and, in their impatience, begin to panic and trade away underperforming members of their team.
That’s where we come in. Whether you're looking at your roster, wondering why you drafted Derrick Henry in the first round, or hyped because your rookie breakout candidate is elite, we’re here to help you find balance for your fantasy roster.
Buckle up and grab those trade calculators, as I have three buy-low and three sell-high targets as we head into week 6 of the 2025 fantasy football season.
Buy Low
TreyVeon Henderson
New England Patriots - RB
The once highly touted prospect, TreyVeon Henderson, has yet to see the success in his rookie season that many fantasy managers had hoped for.
While still losing valuable reps to the committee in New England of Antonio Gibson and Rhamondre Stevenson, Henderson has been a disappointment to many fantasy owners.
This could all be shifting soon, though, as Gibson went down with a season-ending ACL injury in week 5, and Stevenson has continuously disappointed with his ball security as he’s tied for first in fumbles with 3 total fumbles and 0 recoveries.
With Gibson’s injury, Henderson should take his carries, giving him a larger snap share to potentially make a move to take over this backfield.
Henderson excels in the passing game as well, allowing for him to be a three-down back when the coaching staff gives him the starting role, meaning his opportunity share is increased even more.
Find a nervous Henderson manager that needs fantasy points now, and offer him a player with current production that can hep him win games immediately.
Go and trade for Henderson and reap the benefits as he grows as a player as the season continues.
Quentin Johnston
Los Angeles Chargers - WR
Quentin Johnston has been turning heads all season with his ridiculous performances, but in week 5, he returned to his former self, having only 4 receptions and 40 receiving yards and a costly fumble, totaling 6.9 PPR points.
This game shouldn’t concern fantasy managers, as Johsnton still leads the Chargers in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, while still commanding a 23.3% target share on the season.
Joshnton has evolved into a premier deep threat in the Chargers' system, thriving off of big plays from deep throws by quarterback Justin Herbert.
With teammate Ladd McConkey having a down season so far, Johnston looks to be the WR1 for the Chargers throughout the 2025 NFL season.
Play up Johnston’s past failures to panicked managers, and urge them to trade you Johnston while he “still holds value”.
Grab yourself a high-end WR2 for the remainder of the 2025 season with Johnston while his value is still low from his slump performance in week 5.
Omarion Hampton
Los Angeles Chargers - RB
Now I know what you're all thinking, “but Omarion Hampton is RB10 on the season, how can I buy low on him?”
Hampton was unfortunately placed on IR following the Commanders' game on Sunday, meaning that he will be out for a minimum of four games; the earliest he could come back is week 10 against the Steelers.
Hampton has shown elite efficiency so far this season, averaging 4.76 yards per carry while still heavily involved in the receiving game, having the fourth most receiving yards on the Chargers.
This injury may throw off several managers, as without Hampton, they cannot make a push for the playoffs, meaning they’re panic-selling Hampton lower than his true value.
Target a manager who needs a good replacement for Hampton, and if you can still find ways to win games over the next four weeks, trade for Hampton and wait for him to come back and explode in value once again.
Sell High
Rico Dowdle
Carolina Panthers - RB
Rico Dowdle had an astronomical performance in week 6, where he had 206 rushing yards, a rushing touchdown, and 3 receptions for 28 yards, totaling 32.4 PPR points and finishing as the RB1 in week 5.
This performance came in the absence of starter Chubba Hubbard, as he is fighting through a calf injury that sidelined him for the past week and possibly several games moving forward.
When Hubbard returns, Dowdle’s role in the Panthers' offense could shrink rapidly, returning him to a deep bench player rather than a top-tier running back.
This elite showing from Dowdle looks to be difficult to repeat, as 71% of Dowdle’s total rushing yards came from last week’s game, and his efficiency before week 5 was poor, as he only averaged 2.9 yards per carry.
While this 206-yard performance looks spectacular on paper, it's probably the highest that Dowdle’s value will be for the entirety of the 2025 season, making now the perfect time to sell high on him.
Sam LaPorta
Detroit Lions - TE
In his best performance of the season, Sam LaPorta had 5 receptions, 92 receiving yards, and 1 touchdown, finishing as the TE4 in week 5 with 20.2 PPR points.
One word that defines LaPorta’s 2025 season has been inconsistency, and this week solidifies that.
LaPorta has scored under 10 PPR points three times this season, making his average 10.7 points, which is a major disappointment for his draft capital heading into the 2025 season.
Additionally, LaPorta’s week 6 performance was boosted with a touchdown, making this level of production even less attainable week-to-week.
With competition rising from fellow teammates Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, LaPorta’s target share and opportunity count could continue to see a dip, making LaPorta a great sell-high candidate.
Sell LaPorta at this inflated value, reminding potential buyers of LaPorta’s elite past and how this game is just a flash of his true potential.
Rachaad White
Tampa Bay Buccaneers - RB
In Tampa Bay’s most recent game, Rachaad White exploded in leave of an injured Bucky Irving, scoring 23.1 PPR points.
This performance was heavily aided by the pair of rushing touchdowns that White had in Sunday’s shootout versus the Seahawks, which accounted for 51.9% of his fantasy points in week 5.
White’s reign as the RB1 in Tampa Bay is also limited, as Irving will be back within the next couple of weeks to reclaim his role.
The risk of regression due to an increased number of touchdowns paired with his lack of rushing efficiency makes White an elite sell-high candidate heading into week 6.
Find a desperate manager in dire need of a running back and upsell the receiving work that White has seen all year to get the maximum value for him.
Final Thoughts
In the ever-changing world of fantasy football, it’s crucial to remember that fantasy championships aren’t won by chasing inflated points; they’re won by recognizing when the value is there and how to capitalize on it.
With the guide I gave you above, you’re prepared to go make those moves that championship caliber teams make to assure they win their league.
Go make those trades and make sure to check back next week for more buy-low and sell-high content!
