How the Courtland Sutton Extension Impacts the Denver Broncos in Dynasty Fantasy Football

Early on Monday morning, veteran wide receiver Courtland Sutton and the Denver Broncos agreed on a four-year, $92 million extension that will tie him to the team for at least the next few seasons.

This is major news for the entire organization, as the offense and the team as a whole saw major improvement in 2024, led by rookie quarterback Bo Nix. This led to Denver’s first playoff appearance since 2015, so it makes sense that the front office wanted to get Sutton’s deal done to ensure the continued production of this high-powered offense for years to come.

Sutton had the best fantasy finish of his career in 2024 with Nix under center, finishing with 81 receptions for 1081 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns. He reminded everyone in the NFL that he can be a true number-one receiver for a playoff-caliber team.

The real question is: what does this extension mean for the rest of the Broncos’ offense going forward?

Bo Nix

Clearly, Nix and Sutton developed a strong connection in 2024. Sutton received a career-high in targets, and Nix finished as one of the best rookies in the NFL, so it makes complete sense for this strong chemistry to continue into 2025 and perhaps beyond.

Nix’s top receiver is now locked into the offense for at least a few more seasons, and with other strong targets in Marvin Mims Jr. and Evan Engram set to take on starting roles for this offense, he should have plenty of weapons at his disposal in 2025.

Bo Nix’s impressive passing volume, rushing upside, and strong offensive environment make him a top-ten quarterback in dynasty fantasy football for the next few seasons. After compiling 3,775 passing yards, 430 rushing yards, and 32 total touchdowns in his rookie season, Nix will look to lead this Broncos team to the playoffs once again in 2025.

Courtland Sutton

The most obvious beneficiary of this new contract is the receiver who put pen to paper. Sutton had one of the best years of his career in 2024, and after registering 135 targets last season, there should be no shortage of volume in 2025.

I expect Sutton to finish as a top-25 fantasy receiver this season, but the major boost goes to his long-term value. We no longer have to worry about an impending visit to free agency after the 2025 season. With Sutton locked into this team’s future, his floor becomes much higher going forward with a competent quarterback under center. He’s a great asset for contending teams in dynasty fantasy football.

Evan Engram

Evan Engram has the ceiling to finish as a top-five tight end in 2025 fantasy football. His value in dynasty from this point on won’t be too extreme due to his age, but he still has definite short-term value as a high-volume receiving threat at a position Denver had a desperate need to fill this offseason.

He should see a surplus of targets from Bo Nix this year, and I’ll be looking for the pair to become one of the best duos in the league. Engram and Sutton will certainly be the Broncos’ top two receivers this season.

Marvin Mims Jr. and Pat Bryant

Finally, we move to the other receivers in Denver’s offense. Marvin Mims Jr. emerged as a big-play threat late in the 2024 NFL season, scoring six touchdowns in the final seven games of the regular season. He averaged 62 receiving yards per game over that stretch as well.

The speedster’s late-season heroics give him a good chance to earn a bigger role this season, but his lack of volume (only 52 targets across 17 games) in 2024 gives him a lower floor than most dynasty managers would like. He’s a great player to roster on your bench for the moment in dynasty, and I think he’ll be the third target in this offense in 2025 with the upside to earn even more volume later on.

Former Illinois receiver Pat Bryant was selected by Denver in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He’s a route technician who has apparently been garnering a lot of praise early into the Broncos’ training camp.

He will definitely be involved in his rookie season, but with three solid targets ahead of him on the depth chart, he’s more of a long-term stash for now.

Conclusion

After Denver’s long-term investment in his services, Sutton’s dynasty outlook receives a solid boost. He will be Nix’s top target at the wide receiver position this year and now has security for the next few seasons.

Courtland Sutton should be very productive in 2025 dynasty fantasy football.
