Must Start: Wide Receiver

Amari Cooper @ LV

The FTR start of the week must be a player that I’m super high on yet but who isn’t ranked in the top 24 according to ESPN’s projections. After his big breakout, I’m surprised to see Amari Cooper projected as the WR29 on ESPN. Up to this point, Cooper has drawn a 20.5% team target share; it just didn’t translate into fantasy points. Now that we saw Deshaun Watson look somewhat competent, I’m treating Cooper as a WR2.

The Raiders matchup projects out very well for Cooper based on what they’ve done so far. Right now, the Raiders have allowed the 11th most fantasy points (110.9) to wide receivers in the NFL, which is fairly above average. Even though the game has a very low over/under via Vegas Insider, Cooper has shown he wins off of volume. When looking for a WR2, targets are one of the best stats you can chase.

Must Start: Running Back

Kenneth Walker @ DET

ESPN has Kenneth Walker projected as the RB25 on the week which doesn’t make sense to me. If they believed he wasn’t going to play that’s one thing but if Walker is playing for the Seahawks he should be playing for your fantasy team. Even while expecting a bit of rust, Walker had 18.9 points in week one where he looked dynamic.

The Lions game is a tough matchup as running backs have fared very poorly, and I understand that. That said, this game has an over/under of 47 points, according to Vegas Insider, which helps out Walker and his touchdown upside a ton. I’ll admit it, overall, the matchup isn’t particularly great, but when you look at the guys going in the low RB2 range, I’m betting on the talent of Walker every time.
