LeBron James is still dominating the NBA even at the age of 39. First player to reach the mark of 40,000 points. He made history last night against Denver Nuggets.
Making history
LeBron James is great, we all know that. Last night, he got a chance to set another record. To become the first player in NBA history to reach 40,000 points. As usual, he took the opportunity and did it. LeBron James is now the only member of:
27000/7000/7000 club
28000/8000/8000 club
29000/9000/9000 club
30000/10000/10000 club
35000/10000/10000 club
40000/10000/10000 club.
The best word to describe all this is longevity. For 20 years straight, LeBron James has been dominating the league, and he will continue to do so. Let's not forget, last season he became the number one scorer of all time. Record after record. Setting standards.
LeBron this season
LeBron is still playing at top-tier level. That is clear as day. This season, he is averaging 25 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists per game, shooting 53% from the field, and 40% from the three point line. He was once again selected for All-star game, but let's say he used the All-star break to rest. In the last 5 games (since All-star break), he's averaging almost 30 points and 9 assists. He led the Lakers to win against city rivals, Los Angeles Clippers, and he outscored the Clippers in the fourth quarter, and secured the W after a big comeback.
Lakers this season
However, the Lakers are not in the best spot right now. They are 33-29 and are ranked 10th in the Western Conference. Safe to say, it won't be easy getting to playoffs, having Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings all in play-in spots. They are ranked as the 18th best offensive team, and 17th best defensive team in the league. I'm not really sure why they are underperforming, but one thing is for sure, it's not because of LeBron. The roster is not meeting the expectations, but hey, it's never too late.
