Welcome back to yet another ridiculous week of fantasy football, where many managers are celebrating their playoff dreams, and others are convincing themselves there’s a way to come back from being 2-6 to start the year (best of luck to those people).
Bye weeks are wrecking rosters, injuries are stacking up, and the true contenders are starting to pull away.
Teams are all over the place, and chaos is the deciding factor in most leagues, but don’t worry, that’s where we come in.
Just like I’ve said in the past, this panic and chaos is where we thrive as fantasy managers, taking advantage of the value when it’s given to us.
So lock in, grab those trade calculators, and open up those trade talks, because I’ll be giving you three buy-low and sell-high candidates before week nine of the NFL season.
Buy Low
Jake Ferguson
Dallas Cowboys - TE
Jake Ferguson entered the 2025 season almost completely under the radar after a lackluster finish as the TE25 in 2024 dimmed many fantasy managers' expectations.
However, Ferguson burst onto the scene this year, as he’s currently the TE1 overall, as well as having five of his eight games being over 15 PPR points.
Ferguson has been a consistent target in the Dallas offense and one of Dak Prescott’s most reliable receivers throughout the season.
Now, you’re probably wondering why Ferguson is considered a buy low, and that would come from his disappointing week 8 performance.
In week 8, Ferguson had only one target, which he missed, making his final score for the week a whopping zero points.
Now, while this game is likely just a fluke, some fantasy managers may see this as a regression to 2024 and will want to move off of him while his value is still sky high.
Make a move for Ferguson in your fantasy leagues, playing up to the fantasy manager that both George Pickens and Ceedee Lamb will take his target share away, making him a mid-tier tight end.
We know that Ferguson will continue to be a highlight player, though, as the Dallas offense is continuously on the field and Prescott consistently finds him for big gains.
Rico Dowdle
Carolina Panthers - RB
If you’ve been following along with this series for a while now, Rico Dowdle’s name may seem familiar to you.
Before week six, right after Dowdle had his ridiculous game against the Dolphins, I had him listed as my sell-high target, as I didn’t think his role would look the same once Chubba Hubbard was back from injury.
I was wrong, but Dowdle has gone on a tear to prove his point.
Dowdle has had a ridiculous stretch of games recently, averaging 20.57 PPR points over his last four games, which makes him the RB3 over that stretch.
According to recent reports from head coach Dave Canales, the split backfield that we saw last week, which resulted in a poor performance from Dowdle, is likely to be eliminated moving forward, with Dowdle taking the majority of the reps.
As I mentioned earlier, Dowdle had a down week, only scoring 5.4 fantasy points, making him the perfect target to get at a discounted value.
With Hubbard slowly falling out of the picture, Dowdle is primed to continue his RB1 season and is the perfect piece to a team looking to make a playoff push in 2025.
Emeka Egbuka
Tampa Bay Buccaneers - WR
While you’re likely not going to get Emeka Egbuka anywhere near his preseason value, right now is likely the lowest his value will be for the remainder of the season.
Egbuka has been dealing with a hamstring injury over the last couple of weeks, which has limited his overall performance, resulting in just 6.9 points per game over the past three weeks.
The role that the Buccaneers have created for Egbuka is a perfect situation, allowing Egbuka to be peppered with targets and display his true big-play upside.
With the injury a thing of the past, Egbuka should be firing on all cylinders again, making him the perfect snag at his slightly discounted value and a critical piece to any championship contender.
Sell High
Chase Brown
Cincinnati Bengals - RB
Before the 2025 season, Chase Brown was touted as an elite running back due to the elite receiving upside that he offered and the great RB1 season he had in 2024.
Unfortunately, Brown had been a disappointment for the majority of the 2025 season, averaging just 8.8 points per game.
With Joe Burrow out with an injury, the number of checkdowns and targets that Brown received dropped drastically, cutting into his production as well.
Brown flipped the script in week 8, though, giving all of his managers a glimpse of what he was drafted so high for, finishing with 25.5 PPR points.
However, this performance was heavily influenced by touchdowns, with both a rushing and receiving touchdown, accounting for 47% of his total fantasy points.
Brown has also been inefficient with the rushes he’s been given, averaging just 3.9 yards per carry in 2025, putting him well under his former numbers.
Look for a manager buying the new breakout of Brown, and offload him before he returns to his inefficient fantasy performances.
Troy Franklin
Denver Broncos - WR
Troy Franklin had a spectacular game in week eight, finishing with 26.9 PPR points, propelled primarily by a pair of touchdowns.
Franklin has been inconsistent week-to-week, but has offered huge weeks to pair with his down ones, having two 24+ point performances this year alone.
While this performance seems amazing, the lack of a true role in Denver’s passing attack puts him as a major sell, as he has to compete with Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims for meaningful reps and targets.
With both of his major weeks being propelled by touchdowns, Franklin just isn't a player that can be reliably counted on for elite performance.
This recent huge game and lack of consistent play make him the perfect sell-high candidate as we head into week nine of the NFL season.
Breece Hall
New York Jets - RB
Following an explosive performance in week eight, where he scored 32.86 fantasy points, Breece Hall is my last sell-high target.
Hall had quite the interesting stat line last week, recording two rushing touchdowns, but also throwing the game-winning touchdown.
These three touchdowns made up a majority of Hall’s fantasy production, adding to the volatility that he normally has.
While Hall has been quite efficient as a rusher this season, he has had limited carries in some matchups due to the Jets needing to flip to a passing game script often in an attempt to win.
Selling Hall at his current value can net you a solid RB2 and a consistent FLEX option that can help define your team’s depth, allowing you to make a push for your league's championship in 2025.
Final Thoughts
That’s a wrap on my buy-low and sell-high candidates heading into week 9 of the 2025 NFL season.
Capitalize on value, wherever you can find it, and use that value to turn yourself into a true contender for your fantasy league's championship.
Don’t forget to check back next week for even more buy-low and sell-high candidates!
