Welcome back to the crazy market that we all invest in: fantasy football. Last week brought some crazy performances, along with some disappointing finishes, which made some owners panic and others rejoice.
But here, we don't panic; we use this indecision and chaos to capitalize on the true value of these players and improve our fantasy football rosters. So buckle in and pull out those trade calculators to find out this week's buy-low and sell-high targets!
Sell High
Luther Burden
Chicago Bears - WR
In a shocking turn of events, it seemed as if Luther Burden’s breakout game came much earlier than many expected, with Burden totaling 19.8 PPR points in week 3.
However, Burden’s huge game came primarily from an explosive 65-yard flea-flicker touchdown, which accounted for 68% of his fantasy points in week 3.
Burden has also struggled to see the field throughout the season, averaging a 24% snap share through the first three weeks and only seeing six total targets as well.
On top of his limited field time, Burden has to fight his way to receive any meaningful targets, as Rome Odunze, D.J. Moore, and potentially Olamide Zaccheaus are all ahead of Burden in the rotation, making getting meaningful week-to-week output difficult to achieve.
Burden might have a pop week, as we saw last week, but receiving any form of consistent play is still a long way away, making his 2025 value likely at its highest for the entire 2025 season.
Try and sell Burden while the “rookie breakout” is hot on everyone's minds, and aim to add a more dependable piece to your roster.
T.J. Hockenson
Minnesota Vikings - TE
T.J. Hockenson reminded fantasy owners why they drafted him so high in their drafts this offseason, with a view back towards his elite production years, with 15.9 PPR points in week 3.
Hockenson has been off to a slow start with only 4 receptions for 27 yards through the first two weeks of the 2025 NFL season, and has only had an elite showing this past week in a blowout win against Cincinnati.
His struggles could come from the inexperience of starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy and increased target competition, making this elite performance a potential trap for fantasy owners.
Hockenson could find himself reliant on touchdowns to achieve elite performances, a metric that is unsustainable and makes his production shaky and unreliable.
This juicy stat line seems like a return to Hockenson’s former glory, which it still could, but likely Hockenson will not be able to sustain these performances, making this wave of value look like it's soon to crash.
Capitalize on this huge game and sell Hockenson to your league mates, reminding them of how well Hockenson played in the past and how this game is his bounce-back to TE1 glory.
Tyreek Hill
Miami Dolphins - WR
Tyreek Hill flashed in the past two weeks with 16.9 and 15.9 PPR points, respectively, making many fantasy owners believe Hill may return to his WR1 status in 2025.
However, Hill’s week 3 performance was heavily reliant on his touchdown, very similar to the way I mentioned Hockenson earlier.
Without his touchdown, Hill would have ended as the WR39 in week 3, grossly underperforming his projected total.
With the Dolphins looking lost to start the 2025 season and starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in peril, Hill will struggle to see reliable opportunities and replicate these elite stat lines.
While the speedster looks to be back to full strength, don't let this inflated performance fool you, and capitalize on Hill’s name value and improved play to improve your team.
Look to package Hill for a top-tier receiver to take over your WR1 role, or look for a more reliable target share to replace the volatility that Hill is currently in.
Buy Low
Tucker Kraft
Green Bay Packers - TE
After Tucker Kraft’s nuclear performance in week 2, expectations were through the roof heading into week 3, where Kraft had a disappointing 5.9 PPR points as he struggled through injury.
Even though Kraft struggled through a knee injury in week 3, he still commanded an 88% snap share, meaning that Kraft is solidified as the starting tight end in Green Bay’s offense.
Kraft dominates the Packers' receiving room as he leads the team in total targets, receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns, making himself the number one option in Green Bay’s offense.
While some fantasy managers are concerned that Kraft’s knee tweak will lead to extended poor performance, the Packers’ willingness to play Kraft in week 3 shows that the injury is minor and shouldn't affect future performance.
Target Kraft in your trade talks and play up this week’s performance as volatility and secure yourself a TE1 in 2025 fantasy football.
Alvin Kamara
New Orleans Saints - RB
Alvin Kamara started his season with two great stat lines but bellied out in week 3 with only 6.6 PPR points.
While this past week’s performance looks scary on paper, with Kamara only averaging 2.3 yards per carry, the reality is that the Saints played a good defense in Seattle, and starting quarterback Spencer Rattler did little to help Kamara in the receiving game.
With the lack of receiving threats in New Orleans, Kamara will see a return to the volume he’s received in the past, making him a top-tier running back.
Find the fantasy owner terrified of a regression from the aging back and feed him the “inefficiencies” that Kamara has had this season, and grab Kamara at this discounted price.
With week 3 dragging Kamara’s value down, target this elite running back, knowing that Kamara’s receiving volume will increase, which in turn brings back his RB1 upside and significantly improves your 2025 fantasy roster.
Brian Thomas Jr
Jacksonville Jaguars - WR
Brian Thomas Jr has yet to return to his 2024 self, totaling just 7 receptions for 115 yards through the first three weeks.
While the lack of production might be concerning to some, reports have come out saying that a wrist injury has been holding Thomas back to start this season, making his slow start more understandable to worried fantasy owners.
As Thomas continues to heal from his injury, the reliability and target share will return, as we know Thomas has the talent, as he put up over 1,200 receiving yards in his rookie season, paired with 10 touchdowns.
Thomas still holds valuable deep threat ability, posting 16.4 yards per catch throughout the 2025 season so far.
Capitalize on Thomas owners' panic, and add a valuable young receiving threat to your roster to help you win a championship in 2025.
Final Thoughts
Remember, fantasy football is an ever-changing stock market, and cashing in on Luther Burden, T.J. Hockenson, and Tyreek Hill isn't a jab at their talent, but rather a smart decision that fantasy owners make when the value is right.
Scooping up Tucker Kraft, Alvin Kamara, and Brian Thomas Jr all provide immense value jumps that can help lead to a title in 2025.
