Top 5 Veterans to Buy Low in Dynasty Fantasy Football

You’ve all heard it: “Youth is key! Dynasty rosters are built on it!”. If you've played dynasty for any amount of time, age is always at the forefront of everyone's mind when it comes to building dynasty rosters.

Every year, you hear that you need to sell an older player, normally on the back half of their prime or later, to hop on a hot new rookie or a potential breakout sophomore player with unlimited upside.

With the constant media attention surrounding the age of players in dynasty, many older players are pushed down rankings and generally overlooked in roster construction.

This is where elite dynasty managers can find continued success by buying older players with one to three seasons remaining of good to elite production and utilizing them in their lineups.

In this article, I’ll highlight seven players who are being undervalued due to their age and can contribute heavily to a contender's team in 2025 dynasty fantasy football.

Alvin Kamara

New Orleans Saints - RB

KTC Rank: RB22

Age: 30

Alvin Kamara is one of the best running backs of the current generation, and yet no one wants to admit that he’s still a viable option for contending teams.

Since Kamara entered the NFL in 2017, he has had SEVEN top 12 finishes in PPR leagues, with the 2022 season being his only non-RB1 season, ending as the RB16 overall, just barely missing the top 12.

This dominance has come on the back of his ridiculous receiving ability, averaging 6.4 targets per game in 2024, along with his insane workload, boasting the fifth most touches last season, averaging 21.1 touches per game.

With Kamara earning 16.2% of the Saints' targets last season and the Saints only adding an aging Brandin Cooks to the receiving core, a replication of last season's success, where Kamara finished as the RB9, is completely within reach.

Also, with second-round rookie quarterback Tyler Shough running the Saints offense this year, expect to see him lean on Kamara as a safety net, and watch Kamara rack up PPR points in your dynasty leagues.

Davante Adams

Los Angeles Rams - WR

KTC Rank: WR41

Age: 32.6

Everyone expected great things out of the duo of Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers in New York last year, but their impressive stat lines were overshadowed by the team's lack of success.

Adams was released by the Jets to start the offseason and inked a two-year, $44 million deal with the Los Angeles Rams.

Davante joins quarterback Matthew Stafford and fellow teammate Puka Nacua as leaders in the Rams' electric offense under head coach Sean McVay.

With Cooper Kupp gone to the Seahawks in the offseason, Adams looks to take over many of the vacated targets that Kupp left.

We’ve seen Stafford support two receivers throughout his tenure with the Rams, and this year should be no different, potentially propelling both receivers to top-12 finishes and making Adams a massive steal for his current value.

Stefon Diggs

New England Patriots - WR

KTC Rank: WR54

Age: 31.7

Most people shy away from wide receivers once they enter their 30s, but Stefon Diggs with the Patriots this year will prove those people wrong.

After Diggs was traded from the Bills to the Texans, many dynasty managers panicked and sold their shares of Diggs in fear of a dip in production in Houston.

Digg’s proved everyone wrong in Houston, averaging 15.6 PPG, which was good for the WR6 overall in PPR scoring, until his injury in Week 8, which sidelined him for the rest of the 2024 season.

In the offseason, the Texans opted to add rookie talent rather than re-sign Diggs, and in turn, Diggs signed a three-year, $63.5 million deal with the New England Patriots in free agency.

With Diggs having the opportunity to play as the WR1 in the Patriots offense under second-year quarterback Drake Maye, expect to see massive numbers and a smooth finish from Diggs in 2025.

James Conner

Arizona Cardinals - RB

KTC Rank: RB28

Age: 30.2

The old myth is that running backs hit the age of 27 and are never seen again, but James Conner is leading the way of a new age of running backs playing at a high level well past their suggested “primes”.

Conner had one of the best years of his career in 2024, averaging 16 PPG in PPR leagues, finishing as the RB11 overall and blowing up his preseason ADP.

Every season that Conner has played for Arizona, he has finished as a top-20 running back, and was even given a two-year extension in December to reward his elite production.

Conner isn't the type of guy to make flashy plays, but he’s the guy who’s consistent in the red zone and short-yardage situations, making him a staple of the Cardinals' offense and allowing him to feast on short-yardage touchdowns.

Conner was elite in several metrics last season, as shown in this post by @17gamepace on X.

Don't overlook Conner just because he turned 30 this offseason, but instead take the two years of elite production he offers and build a league-winning team in 2025.

Calvin Ridley

Tennessee Titans - WR

KTC Rank: WR51

Age: 30.6

Calvin Ridley has disappeared in the eyes of the media over the last two years since joining the Titans, with many people saying “Tennessee is where wide receivers go to die” and fading Ridley in all formats.

While their argument has worked in the past (Randy Moss, Julio Jones, Andre Johnson), Ridley has seemed to have broken free from the curse.

In 2024, Ridley had the second-most receiving yards of his career with 1,017 and propelled himself to a WR28 overall finish in one of the worst passing offenses in the league.

Fortunately, in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Titans selected Cam Ward with the first overall pick, which is a significant upgrade over the former pair of Will Levis and Mason Rudolph.

With Ward looking for a WR1 to build chemistry with, Ridley comes forward as the number one option for Ward in 2025, which could propel Ridley back into high-end WR2 territory or possibly a low-end WR1 finish in 2025.

The concern of Ridley’s age does not have enough power to push him as far down the rankings as he is right now, and for this price, right now is a steal for a championship caliber team in 2025.

Final Thoughts

These five players have all been pushed down the ranks over concerns of their age, and are all primed to be elite contributors to a contending dynasty team.

Grab these players at their lowest value, and use them to build yourself a league-winning team in your 2025 dynasty fantasy football leagues.
