The 2025 fantasy football season is right around the corner, and finding value in where you take players is how you build a championship roster. The quarterback is the anchor of your team’s success and should be a consistent 20+ fantasy point scorer.
The difference between an elite quarterback and an average one could be the difference between winning your league and missing out on the playoffs. For these quarterbacks, I’ll be referencing KeepTradeCut’s Rankings and will be using this to show where these players are being taken and why they are being undervalued.
Get ready to dive into my analysis of these undervalued quarterbacks for 2025 fantasy football!
Dak Prescott (DAL)
KTC Rank: QB14
Starting this list off is a former top-three overall quarterback Dak Prescott. In 2023, Prescott put up 4,516 passing yards, 36 passing TDs, and 9 interceptions for a total of 351.84 fantasy points, making him the third overall scoring quarterback that season.
However, in 2024, Prescott suffered a torn right hamstring, limiting him to only 8 games. In this short time, he put up four top-15 performances and one top-three performance.
In the offseason, the Cowboys had several key additions, including former Steelers wideout George Pickens as their second receiver behind their elite top option in Ceedee Lamb. Additionally, the Cowboys brought in former Broncos running back Javonte Williams and also added Texas Longhorns alum Jaydon Blue in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The only loss that the Cowboys suffered was future Hall of Fame right guard Zack Martin, who retired in the offseason. This offense has improved since Prescott’s superb performance during the 2023 season, adding more weapons for him and bringing in an offensive-minded head coach, Brian Schottenheimer, to support him.
Prescott is primed to repeat the success that he had in 2023 and is a great value at QB14, with major upside to be a top-five player at the position this year.
Baker Mayfield (TB)
KTC Rank: QB16
Normally, when a quarterback finishes as the QB4 in a season, the next year, they are drafted as at least a top-ten quarterback, but that doesn't seem to be the case with Baker Mayfield.
In 2024, Mayfield had 4,500 passing yards, 41 passing TDs, and 16 interceptions, totaling 381.8 fantasy points and finishing as the QB4 overall. This performance was Mayfield’s best fantasy year of his career, with much credit due to the offensive wizardry of former Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen.
This massive year from Mayfield happened even with lead receivers Chris Godwin and Mike Evans missing time. Godwin missed ten games last season with a dislocated ankle and Evans missed three games with a hamstring issue.
Even though the Buccaneers had one of the best receiving groups in the league, they went into the 2025 NFL Draft and selected former Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka in the first round.
While the loss of Liam Coen looms as a potential limit in the production that Mayfield offers, that worry should be restrained as the additions in the offense negate the emphasis that the loss of playcalling holds.
Baker Mayfield is set for success in 2025 fantasy football and is capable of greatly outperforming his current ranking and being a significant contributor to a championship roster.
Jared Goff (DET)
KTC Rank: QB23
Our next player is very similar to Baker Mayfield, as he also put up an amazing fantasy season in 2024 and is being drafted much later than he should be. The player that I am referencing is Jared Goff.
In 2024, Goff had 4,629 passing yards, 37 passing TDs, and 12 interceptions, totaling 336.46 fantasy points and finishing as the QB6 overall.
During this offseason, the Lions have lost two major contributors in center Frank Ragnow and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, while adding a dynamic playmaker in the draft with Isaac TeSlaa in the third round.
Over the past two years, Goff had a QB7 season in 2023, and, most recently, a QB6 performance in 2024. This level of production has proven itself to be sustainable, as the Lions have a high-powered offense that supports Goff’s strengths as a passer.
Similarly to Mayfield and the Buccaneers, the Lions lost an elite offensive playcaller in Ben Johnson, but as I mentioned earlier, the team's overall talent should account for this loss of elite play-calling.
Look out for Goff this season, as he's prepared to light the league up with another top-ten year, vastly outproducing his current ranking and value.
Michael Penix Jr. (ATL)
KTC Rank: QB20
Next up is a player heading into his sophomore year, as Michael Penix Jr. is primed for a successful season in an offense tailored to his strengths.
Penix was a surprise draft pick at eighth-overall in 2024, and sat most of the year behind Kirk Cousins, but when he was given his chance to start, he impressed, totaling 775 passing yards, 3 passing TDs, and 3 interceptions over three starts, averaging 15.19 points per game. When used as a baseline for 17 games, these stats would have placed him as the QB17 overall.
Now heading into his second season, Penix’s offensive core has held strong, anchored behind former first-round picks Drake London and Bijan Robinson, who have had two full years to build chemistry together and are prepped to have an impressive season.
In this article from @fakecorykinnan on X, Penix’s passing success and route percentages are shown. This helps display his efficiency as a downfield passer who can be extremely successful off of his deep ball alone.
Penix has a prominent path to success, having multiple consistent targets within his offense, and head coach Raheem Morris being all in on his success. Look for Penix to tremendously outperform his ranking and possibly finish within the top-10 for this upcoming fantasy season.
Trevor Lawrence (JAX)
KTC Rank: QB21
Trevor Lawrence finishes off this list, as he has greatly benefited from the Jaguars' offseason additions and is ready for a highly efficient season in 2025.
In 2024, Lawrence was able to play in just nine games before suffering a concussion and missing the rest of the season. In his time as a starter, Lawrence totaled 2,045 passing yards, 11 passing TDs, and 7 interceptions, averaging 16.7 points, which over a 17-game span would've placed him as the QB13 overall.
Before being injured, Lawrence was having a highly-productive season with three top-10 performances and three other top-17 finishes, all while having an unproductive coaching staff to back him.
This changed this offseason, as the Jaguars brought in former Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen as their newest head coach, and former Vikings assistant offensive coordinator Grant Udinski as their offensive coordinator, bringing many years of knowledge and playcalling and a new life to this offense.
In the NFL Draft, the Jaguars made an aggressive trade to take dynamic playmaker Travis Hunter to star as their secoond wideout behind the dominant incoming sophomore Brian Thomas Jr. They also added former Virginia Tech running back Bhayshul Tuten to bolster their running back room.
With this new coaching staff and improved dynamic offense, prepare to see Lawrence hit all-time numbers and be a major piece on many championship teams in 2025.
Final Thoughts
The quarterbacks I have listed above are all currently undervalued and are easy drafts at their ADPs. If you utilize the value that these players present, be prepared for the success you’ll have during your 2025 fantasy football season.
